Amish Cinnamon Bread

Un dessert que mon mari aime beaucoup !

Friendship Bread… When a friend gives you a Amish Starter...

(Note : Always stir the starter with a wooden or plastic spoon
and do not use a metal bowl)

Day 1
Take it out from the freezer - Set aside on counter

Day 2 Stir only
Day 3 Stir only
Day 4 Stir only
Day 5 Add 1 cup of each : flour, sugar and milk (Mix well)
Day 6 Stir only
Day 7 Stir only
Day 8 Stir only
Day 9 Stir only
Day 10 Add 1 cup of each : flour, sugar and milk (Mix well)
Now keep ¼ cup of batter in 4 small containers (become “starters”)
Freeze them


Don’t forget to prepare starters before adding remainder ingredients.

To remainder of batter add :
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Oil
4 Eggs
2 tsp Vanilla
2 cups Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder & Baking Soda
1 ½ pkg Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix (Just the powder)

In another bowl :
5 tsp Cinnamon & ½ cup Brown Sugar

Grease 2 or 3 bread pan.
Put ½ of the batter in each bread pan.
Sprinkle ½ of the sugar/cinnamon mix on top.
Pour remaining batter over sugar mix then remaining sugar/cinnamon mix on top.
Use a knife to marble. (You need to marble a lot of time)

Bake at 325 degre for 1 hour. (Middle rack)

You can also make Muffins (Use Muffin paper cups)
Combine the sugar/cinnamon mix with the batter and marble with a knife.
Muffins : 20-25 min. (Second rack from the top)

Double Starters :

½ cup of starter.
Double on day 5 & 10 also double recipe ingredients list.
You need to prepare starters before adding remainder ingredients.
8 small starter (simple) ¼ cup, 4 double starter ½ cup or 2 – 1 cup starter (for different recipes)

If double – Makes about 3 breads & 24 muffins.
You can also make different recipes with extra starters.

Frozen starter will take at least 3 hours at room temperature to thaw before using.
